Daring Bedroom Designs: 6 Bold Choices

Bedroom with Blue Walls and Bright Textiles

If you crave vibrancy but fear getting tired of a saturated palette, opt for muted shades of your favorite colors. For instance, diluted blue instead of indigo, ochre instead of lemon yellow, pale apricot instead of vivid pink. We used such colors in this project, even daring to go with blue walls: the subdued intensity prevents an oppressive feeling. Bright elements are balanced by white, present everywhere: in finishes, furniture, and textiles.

Interior Built on Contrasts

Color plays a unique role in this project. Each room has its own palette, creating different moods. For the bedroom, we chose a striking and dramatic combination of rich green and red. On the color wheel, these two colors sit on opposite sides, a pairing known as complementary. While such contrasting pairs usually serve as accents, here they dominate the palette. Yet, the interior doesn’t feel overloaded thanks to a neutral headboard, large windows, and light, airy curtains on them.

Bedroom in Warm Tones

Warm colors are perfect for making a room cozier, especially if the windows face north or you live in a climate with cloudy weather. In this project, we designed the attic bedroom in rich red-orange tones, with the vibrant shade on the ceiling: combined with the slope, it creates an unusual large accent. A noble gray dilutes the warm palette.

Pastel Palette and Cozy Textures

Another way to add color to the bedroom while avoiding excessive brightness is to assemble a palette of pastel tones. Besides being soothing to the eye and not irritating, these shades also blend well with each other. You can mix any: adjacent, contrasting, similar or different in warmth-coldness. For example, here we used a delicate combination of powder pink and light blue. A warm beige serves as a calm background, looking equally good with both colors.

Striking White and Green Bedroom

A bright interior doesn’t always mean a complex, colorful palette. It can be one basic and one vibrant color. For example, here we chose pure white and several shades of green: emerald for the bedding, olive gray for the headboard, and dark turquoise for two accent walls. All this complements the contrasting black.

Interior with Several Bright Accents

Another classic warm-cold combination is blue and yellow. For this bedroom, we took the brightest shades of these colors and added equally vibrant accents: dark red and green in various variations. Apart from the palette, the striking wallpaper pattern and textured textiles on both the bed and windows draw attention. The wall opposite, however, remains calm: the storage system is painted light gray, almost blending into the space. The focus, then, shifts to the vivid sleeping area.
