7 Designer Tips for a Wow-worthy Bedroom

Transitions from Dark to Light

Dark interiors always look original and stylish, but they are not so easy to incorporate into a typical apartment without overloading the decor and stripping away its coziness. Therefore, add light shades and play on this contrast. For example, in this bedroom, a black textured panel above the headboard transitions into white walls and ceiling. And the dark bed stands on a floor covered with a sufficiently light shade of wood. Even the graphite bedding is accented by a light-gray throw. Thus, the designers achieved a dark aesthetic in the interior, but retained a sense of coziness and space.

An Unconventional Color as the Base

There is a simple principle in selecting a palette for the interior: 60/30/10. It means that for a harmonious outcome, you should choose a base that occupies 60% of the space, add a second shade for 30%, and finish with an accent color making up 10%. Typically, the base is a light neutral tone: white, beige, or gray. But if you assemble a bedroom palette so that the main color is a more saturated shade, you can achieve a beautiful and memorable space, as shown here.

Following Your Favorite Style

The least aesthetic bedrooms are those that adhere to safe and hence featureless design approaches, avoiding any pronounced interior styles. Therefore, if you have a favorite style, do not hesitate to adhere to its features, even if the space turns out unlike everyone else’s. This project is a bright example of how to create the atmosphere of a country house in a regular apartment. The designers maintained the aesthetics of the country style and achieved a unique interior that is memorable for a long time.

Woven and Wooden Textures

An aesthetic space invites scrutiny, attracts attention, but does not tire. Our brain likes different textures, and if skillfully used in the interior, it will seem very visually pleasing. For example, in this bedroom, they used a variety of textures and combined them with the trend towards naturalness. Thus, the room gained a wooden bed and cabinet with slats, parquet flooring, a woven chair, and a mirror in a massive frame. The result is a calm but visually interesting space.

Working with Textiles

The key to an aesthetic bedroom design is successfully chosen textiles. The carpet, bedding, throw, and window curtains visually occupy a large part of the room, so it’s important to achieve their harmonious compatibility. While it’s not necessary to find bedding with a pattern exactly like the curtains, you can choose a similar motif for both, as they did in this bedroom.

Indoor Plants

The simplest way to make your bedroom more aesthetic is to add indoor plants. Allocate a well-lit place for them at a small distance from the radiator and start looking for the suitable type. Remember, the larger the room’s area, the bigger and more voluminous the plant should be. And on the bedside table, you can place a shade-loving flower to balance the “green” accents.

Minimalism

Minimalism remains one of the most popular interior design trends, allowing even a small room in a typical Soviet-style apartment to appear visually more spacious. Light monochromatic finishes, neutral bedding made from natural fabrics, a minimum of additional furniture such as bedside tables, and 1-2 stylish accessories, and your bedroom immediately looks super stylish.
