Grand Dining Room with a Full-Room Landscape
Wall murals are often used to decorate an accent wall in a room, but this interior adopts a different approach. The mural is applied around the entire perimeter of the dining room, creating the impression that you are inside this tranquil, hilly landscape. To avoid overwhelming the space with the image, the lower part of the walls is finished with panels. Their dusty blue shade harmoniously blends with the mural’s palette, creating an ideal backdrop and frame. The ceiling cornices are painted in the same color.
Vibrant Bedroom in Tropical Colors
In the interior shown in the photo, pink becomes the leading motif, with the wall mural supporting this theme while also serving as an accent. This room is an example of how floral murals can look contemporary. The rich shades of pink and green delicately stand out against the pale pink background. The design is colorful yet not overly busy. Green and emerald leaves echo the wall sections and furniture in the same colors. Textile elements also complement the wallpaper’s palette. If the photo could emit a fragrance, it would undoubtedly smell like a tropical garden!
Accent Fresco in the Living Room
This interior has a completely different mood – restrained, dignified, and serious, yet no less unique. The palette is entirely inspired by nature: sandy and grassy colors, shades of wood in the furniture, wall finishes, and floor. Perfectly fitting into this is the fresco with an abstract landscape above the sofa. The multifaceted play of shades and imitation of large brush strokes make it an artwork, more akin to a painting. But no – it’s a wall mural. Its complex palette almost repeats the colors chosen by the owners during the renovation, yet it doesn’t merge with the interior.
Enchanting Underwater World in a Children’s Room
Escaping infantilism in a child’s room design can be challenging. However, here the designer successfully maintained a balance between the natural whimsy of such a room and moderation. The palette is calm, the drawing is artistic, and the theme is not clichéd. Such wall murals create a magical world for a child while stylishly complementing the interior. Additionally, the design is age-neutral – examining its details will be interesting for a three-year-old, and a teenager is unlikely to object, as there is nothing overtly childish. Small whale silhouettes on the wardrobe fronts echo the theme.
Bedroom Enveloped in a Tropical Night
The jungle theme is another category of wall murals where hitting the mark is very important and simultaneously challenging. One wrong move, and the walls can become tasteless. But not in this project. Behind the bed’s headboard, the jungle spreads out – a bit dusky, dense, with bright, accentuated leaves in the foreground. Deep shades of green create a voluminous effect, as if one could step behind the bed and enter a completely different reality. The immersion into a tropical night is also achieved with the deep blue shade of the walls. The spacious ceiling-height wardrobe is painted the same color, so this large piece of furniture doesn’t stand out. The other interior elements – a partially open wooden bookcase, a trunk, and vases with ethnic motifs – harmonize in meaning and palette with the wallpaper’s print.
Abstract Canvas as the Leading Accent
Wall murals with an abstract print are another striking way to decorate one of the walls. A successful choice of design is key to success. For instance, in the interior shown in the photo – simple black, slightly chaotic lines and curves against the fashionable “greige” background (a blend of gray and beige). No bright colors, but the wallpaper still serves as the main accent in the room. Even standard white furniture – chests and IKEA’s popular line of beds – takes on a new character next to it. The black color is complemented by a few accessories – pendant lights and decor.
