Cabinet Along the Wall
In this project, they filled the hallway with furniture, thereby expanding the storage system volume in a small standard apartment. They installed a ceiling-high cabinet along the long wall and added a shelving-bench unit at the end. The result is functional and aesthetic: the hallway does not seem empty and uncomfortable thanks to the furniture and a small amount of decor.
What You Can Adopt
Confidently fill the long hallway with beautiful furniture, selecting cabinets and chests with textured facades, as in the photos. It is important that the storage system is in the same style as the rest of the apartment.
Mirror at the End of the Hallway
A large mirror can visually expand a narrow, elongated hallway. In this project, they placed it along the short wall, opposite the living room window. Thanks to this arrangement, the flow of natural light is reflected in the mirror, making the narrow hallway more spacious and illuminated.
What You Can Adopt
Look for the right spot in the hallway where a large mirror can create the desired visual effect. And to enhance it, choose finishes and furniture in light shades.
Long Rug
You can complement an elongated hallway with straight lines: they will harmoniously resonate with the geometry of the space. For example, here they used a long rug. It matches the finish in color and adds texture to the interior thanks to the colorful pattern.
What You Can Adopt
Choose a rug for your hallway so that it is long enough. At the same time, the width should not be exactly from wall to wall; it is better to leave 8-12 inches (20-30 cm) of empty floor on each side.
Colored Niche
In this entryway, transitioning into a hallway, they beautifully played with a niche, adding color without overloading the space. For this, the designer chose a wall panel in a shade of dusty rose and a soft seat to match.
What You Can Adopt
Add color selectively to make the hallway visually more interesting and set accents. A niche in the wall, a recess in the cabinet, or the area around the entrance door — any
small area that can be made colorful will fit this role.
Wall Decor
This hallway is in the atmosphere of a country house and country style, as is the entire apartment. Therefore, the designer used wall decor that creates the right associations: large retro-style clocks, posters with plant motifs, and a rough wooden frame for the mirror.
What You Can Adopt
Select decorations for the hallway just as for the rest of the living space. Due to its elongated shape and lack of any functional areas other than storage, it often seems featureless and boring. Therefore, it is important to add accents that will catch the eye.
Bright Poufs
Two colored poufs at the entrance enliven this hallway. Such a seemingly small touch, added by the designer, immediately changes the atmosphere upon entering the apartment. And it required no effort.
What You Can Adopt
Choose poufs so that they are high enough; otherwise, sitting on them will be uncomfortable. And be sure to place a stand or hooks for clothes next to them, to avoid the temptation to throw jackets and bags directly onto the seats.
Large Vase
In designer interiors, one can often find one bright touch that makes the entire space look more interesting. For example, in this project, it is a large vase in the form of a bust, complementing the calm light entryway.
What You Can Adopt
Even in the narrowest hallway, there is room for a large beautiful vase. You can leave it empty or put fresh flowers or dried flowers in it. Choose the filling depending on the season, so this decorative approach always remains appropriate and does not become tiresome.
