Clients and Tasks
The designer furnished this home for herself and her family. She lives here with her husband and two children: a boy and a girl. The main task was to create a bright interior with personal space for each, and to design wardrobes for herself and her husband, son, and daughter.
Layout
The family bought this house ready-made, and the layout completely suited them. It has two floors. The first floor features a combined kitchen-dining-living area with a terrace exit, bathroom, sauna with a shower, office-guest room, and utility rooms. The second floor is private, housing three bedrooms (each with its own wardrobe). The master bedroom also has an office. A large bathroom is located on the second floor.
Finishing and Styling
The designer based the interior on the style of American classics. However, elements of Art Deco are also discernible. Light colored walls with moldings and decorative relief panels, wallpaper-panels, high skirting boards and cornices, natural materials (engineered board, stone), and porcelain stoneware imitating natural textures.
The interior’s color scheme reflects the style. The basis is light wall tones, serving as a backdrop for accent decor items, furniture, and lighting.
The children’s rooms reflect their owners’ favorite colors. The girl’s room, belonging to a little creative personality, predominates in pastel pink tones.
The boy’s room features a gray-blue palette with bright yellow accents.
For the master bedroom, Elsa chose turquoise, a color beloved by both her and her husband. Turquoise is used delicately as an accent. The main color of the bedroom is pure white.
Furniture and Storage
Storage systems are integrated into the interior to remain inconspicuous. There was no need for wardrobes on the second floor in the bedrooms, as each has its own walk-in closet.
Where wardrobes are present — in the hallway, offices — they are built-in and styled to match the interior.
Freestanding Furniture
The freestanding furniture also adheres to the designated concept. There are furnishings that can be compared to art objects.
For example, there’s a drink cart in the kitchen, easily movable to the living room or terrace when guests gather, or a chair with long-fur upholstery in the dining area.
Lighting
Each room in the house is illuminated by large chandeliers, which could be considered as art objects in their own right. Glass pendants, fringes, petals — the lighting invites admiration, serving not only their functional purpose but also beautifying the interior.
Equally attentive consideration is given to additional lighting scenarios. Pendant lights, floor lamps, wall sconces — all are also endowed with stunning decorativeness.
I am inspired by every moment and enjoy my creativity. Design is one of the meanings of life; everything I see must be aesthetic and beautiful. My home is inspired by American design. Light walls are interspersed with bright accents, which can be constantly refreshed to change the mood.
