For Grooming and Haircutting
The best way to combat any problem is prevention, so it’s essential to regularly groom your pets. What can help:
- Furminator. A classic brush for pets with thick undercoats.
- Massage glove brush. A rubber two-sided brush that fits over the hand, does not harm the animal. This surface effectively attracts dead hair.
- Double-sided brush for long fur. A combined option that allows for grooming both long guard hairs and the undercoat.
- Comb-trimmer. Mechanical. Suitable for grooming and styling cats or dogs.
- Furminator with a hair-release button. Speeds up the grooming process, does not harm the animal’s skin. The combed fur is removed by pressing the button.
- Grooming glove. The shed fur is removed during petting. Suitable for short-haired pets. It’s also the most comfortable accessory for fussy animals that don’t tolerate grooming procedures.
- Grooming vacuum. Essentially a handheld vacuum cleaner. The attachment massages the skin, the fur doesn’t scatter around the apartment but is sucked in and collected in a removable container. The minimal noise level does not scare the animal.
- Trimmer. If you want to tackle the problem radically, you can give your pet a short haircut. Choose the device’s power depending on the length and thickness of the fur. The trimmer usually comes with various attachments to adjust the cutting length. The noise level is insignificant due to damping systems.
For Cleaning and Tidying
Even regular grooming of your pet cannot replace cleaning and tidying the apartment. What can help:
- Antistatic spray. For prevention, you can treat fabric surfaces with antistatic spray. It can also be used on cleaning items.
- Rubber accessories. Rubber brooms, brushes, and scrapers are more effective in combating fur than regular ones. They are also suitable for cleaning furniture and carpets. The hairs are attracted by static electricity.
- Microfiber cloths. Suitable for any surfaces, they collect fur excellently.
- Sticky roller. A quick solution often used for cleaning clothes and small surfaces. Not suitable for delicate items made of wool and cashmere — they may develop pills.
- Velvet brushes for lint removal. Suitable for cleaning delicate items, such as woolen ones.
- Special vacuum cleaner brush. It’s important to clean the carpet not only from the outside but also from the inside.
- Special vacuum cleaner attachment. Does not suck in fabric and upholstery, convenient for hard-to-reach places.
- Robot vacuum. You can program the cleaning frequency. The gadget saves time and usually does not scare the pet. However, owners of inexpensive models say they are not very effective against fur. Therefore, it’s better not to skimp and choose a quality model right away.
- Air purifier. Effectively catches fine hairs and also improves the air quality in the apartment. Requires regular filter cleaning.
For Laundry
Often, fur remains on clothes even after washing. Another issue is hair and fluff clogging the washing machine’s drain and remaining in the door seal. What can help:
- Laundry balls. Place in the drum during washing — fur will wrap around the protruding parts.
- Fabric softeners with antistatic. Always add during washing. Firstly, it better removes fur from clothes. Secondly, less fur will stick to them during use.
- Dryer. Owners of this appliance claim that there’s no trace of fur on clothes after a powerful spin cycle (and in general, it’s convenient). If you can afford such a purchase, go for it.
